Default Tach rebuild washers

Hi everybody, I am trying to rebuild my tach, and I am sure this has been answered numerous times, but I cannot seem to get the right answer to pull up under the search. Where do the three insulating washers that came with the board go? There are 6 posts and three washers, which ones do I place them on.

Thanks,
---Chris

I didin't find any insulating washers when I took my 80's original tach apart - I must admit I can't see where they would be of use.
What year are we talking about??

The lower three holes in board engage with the pins on the needle movement assembly, and the top three holes are for the prongs that plug into the dash for +12v, 0V and signal. I'm not sure that you would need to put insulating washers anywhere - but perhaps it's different for earlier models? Did you take any washers off the original board when you took it apart?

Not sure what board you have, but the info I received from Nordskog for Part #s 36964 and 36965 was to place the washers on the holes labled Sine, CoSine and Common.

I did not specifically have that part # for my '76 board. I have Nordskog #36963 and there are only three holes on that board and they stipulated that the washers had to be placed between the board and the back of the tach.

Hope this helps.

If that's the case, the three holes for the common, sine component, and cosine component are the three bottom ones - corresponding to the three prongs that are part of the needle assembly, the lower set of holes on the board.

It sounds as though the aftermarket boards are a little different to the stock one, because the stock design has no insulating washers that I could see. I'm not sure what the insulating washers are actually "insulating against", if you get my drift...

I think I'd need to see a pic of the aftermarket board to be able to tell properly.

they may be used to "space" the Circuit Board away from the metal housing of the tach meter movement.

Yeah, I was beginning to wonder about that..
On mine, the tach movement has pretty good insulation washers integral with the three pins.
