well,
i'm having a hellova time trying to make this work...... i have a sending unit for my digital speedo and it doesn't seem to fit right into the trans or the speedo cable..... here is the link of what i am using http://www.nordskogperformance.net/p...ding/page3.htm
says it can either link to the trans or the speedo.... maybe i'm s.o.l. on this one...... don't know..anyone have any ideas
i guess i have to take it to a shop since the speedo isn't a threaded type.... what would u think a speedo shop would do in this situation....thread the hole/make a bracket/... i don't want to take it in since my funds are low and i would rather do it myself...
thanks
b
also what would be my small gear be for the trans if my diff is stock ....77 vette
Not sure what you've tried so far, but it's supposed to couple with the adapter you see in that picture. Screw one side of the adapter onto the tranny and the other goes on the sending unit, with the tang in between.
there's nothing to screw to...the speedo cable slips in and has this metal tab that bolts to the block and holds it in place...... and the other end of the speedo cable..(that hooks to the original speedo) doesn't have any sort of way to attach it to.....
There should also be a grooved fitting right before the part that attaches to the block that can supposedly be unscrewed. That is there it is supposed to go. Also, there is one similar to that right where the cable turns in front of the firewall (behind a panel) before going into the cabin. Not sure if it will fit there as well, but it's worth a look. I'll be doing mine tonight if I get a chance, so I'll let you know what I find.
i might have to notch the sender a bit with my dremel to where the sender will be "locked" by that tab....... if it isn't one thing it's another... if u find anything out, let me know...i'm gonna go look at it again and see if i can figure anything else out..
Looks to me like only one end gets used... Take the speedo end of the cable and thread it onto the appropriate side of the Nordskog transducer. The other side of the transducer would then get capped off. As long as the rotor inside the transducer is spinning, it will send out a signal.
i think i got it...... i had to cut the little stick about 1/4" in order for the sender to fit against the trans evenly.... the sender has a lip around it and the bolt had enough catch to hold it in place with enough force to keep tight against the trans..... i put some rtv sealant on it b4 install just to prevent leaks (was that bubba?)..... once i get the gauges wired i'll see if that worked....
I used to work at a shop that sold that item for the guages we made. It's supposed to be mounted on the trans or in-line with our cable. so, you can try to mount it on the trans, but I'd imagine it'll be a little tight, or you can buy a cable with thread on ends only a few inches long, to put the digital conversion piece between the two cables. They usually sold these to people that wanted to keep the analog guages and add cruise control. if you're eliminating your original guage, just buy a cable long enough to make it into the passenger compartment and mount it in there. the reason for the two threaded ends is for the in-line use.
i see..... i sort of wish the guy who sold me the sender would have told me b4 hand...... i mounted it on the trans ....so, if it fails, i'll buy a cable and run it that way
OK, I just installed mine. I put it on the end of the extension, which was right next to the bellhousing. Hooked right up. Worth a try if yours doesn't work out for whatever reason. Good luck...
mine is fine also..... i'm gonna cut the end of the old broken cable just in case the sender pops off for some reason..... i can plug it to keep the fluid in till i can fix it.......
