CAT power engine parts?

http://www.catpep.com/

Seem like they have been around awhile. really reasonable prices too.

I have a set of their shaft rockers on the way.

Might be buying more of their stuff. I am willing to give a little guy my money.

Their web site has gotten better!

I'm sure you'll hear good and bad about thier items. If there is a 50-50 split, that's not too bad. More people are more likely to jump in with a complaint whether or not the product is bad or it was was not installed correctly;.

So If I buy a damper, a crankshaft some rods, and a handful of little things(locks, retainers, etc) they will perform as advertised?

I bought some rockers a few years ago. The nuts they supplied would not fit in the rocker arms as they were too large. They told me to reuse my original nuts. I was building from scratch but that was beside the point. They went back. JUNK!

Never again.

Junk, so far I've seen a couple of their parts fail in a catastrophic way, among these were rockers that just split, balancers that exploded, a set of guide plates that wore down within a couple of hundred miles (using hardened pushrods and there was plenty of oiling, there were no burrs anywhere that could cause this failure...soft metal is the only way to explain this) and worst of all a main cap that just cracked for no apparent reason, if they were tough caps the block would crack before the cap would.

I don't think there's any worse junk out there than CAT.

Thats surprising. I would have thought you worked in a technical field. A scientist or engineer.

That's ok, pimps are important too, especially in the area you live in.

Heat treatment processes are still considered to be witchcraft in China. . .

Chinese made parts with Chinese level quality control. Like buying Japanese parts in the late 50's early 60's. The parts will get better after China takes over the USA and puts all of us to work in "slave labor camps" like they have making CAT Power parts right now. I will admit to buying a SCAT crank with it's forging made in China and machined in California. The rods look like Carrillos but the metalurgy is FRIGHTENING! with the heat treatment causing massive inconsistancies throughout the forging (go ahead and be the "Guinea Pig" I'll buy my rods used off of Ebay or from Manley, Crower, Carrillo, Lentz, and Oliver.)
