Nitrous Advice
OK... I haven't even picked up my car from the Speed shop with the 383 in it and they are already up selling me on Nitrous. Keep telling me that the engine we built can handle it without any issues and I would really like it. I've always been a cubic inch hp person. Would appreciate any advice anyone has on this.
I'm not sold on doing it but here is how the engine is built.
* Keith Black forged flat tops
* H-beam forged rods
* Scat crank
* Edelbrock 64cc heads (ported and polished)
* XE274 cam
* Edelbrock Thunder 650 carb
* Performer Intake
* Hooker Headers and full duals.
Puts down 316hp and 374 torq.
Any thoughts would be appreciated... Right now my vote is "no".
The engine might take it, but if you need it, wouldn't you have rather just had them build you a bigger engine???? Its a vette, don't give the punks the satisfaction that you beat them using the bottle.
Why not? It is the perfect solution to having a dependable mild set up engine for daily driving, and a race engine with the press of a button. Use it wisely and it is great. It isnt for everyone though.
I am a fan of NO2 it works great... I have had it on 2 cars... will end up with it on my C3 one day I am sure.
I personally have never hurt my motor on the GAS. But I have broken drive train parts with my cheater system... shooting 175hp. NO2 works great with stock motors also... you can run a 100-125 safely on a bone stock 350 motor. THE KEY IS FUEL... AND TIMING. run about 2-3 degrees retard and about 5-6 psi of fuel... all day long.
tuning is the key, along with proper components such as wot and a window switch. There are several ls1 guys that have run 40-50 bottles through their stock high mileage engines without a problem. It is pretty useless though if you have no need for short term power, or if you dont want to deal with the hassle of playing around with a bottle and refills.

Thanks for the advice everyone... Believe I'll enjoy the new engine and trans for a while and see later. Can't say that I have plans to take it to the track anytime soon as this is more of a weekend cruzer.
