Default window scratches; any idea what's causing?

I am seeing light scratches on my driver and passenger windows in the lower rear quarter of the window (sort of the area above the outside door handles). My car (70 Coupe) does not have power windows. I can't tell if they are getting worse or not, but they are very similar on both sides of the car. Has anyone had anything like this happen? Any fix ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Worn anti-rattle pads. Check to see it they still have padding. May also be worn rollers in your window tracks allowing the window to move around and rub.

This is a common problem with C-3's. If I remember correctly, the wisker strip that attaches to the outside of the door becomes rusted and swells. It is the rust that comes into contact with the glass that causes the scratches. At least that is how it happened on mine, both sides. If yours is just starting, it would be wise to replace the source of the problem asap before scratches become deeper and spread.

Eastwood makes a polish kit to remove the scratchs, but if you can feel it with your fingernail , it might be too deep.

I have the same problem with my pasengers side glass. I have replaced everthing but did not want to replace the glass. There was a thread on this that I had started but as the side glass is tempered it is nearly impossabe to remove the scraches .

Thanks to all of you. I guess I'll have to remove the door panels (unfortunately, I just replaced them last week) and check it out.

There's your culprit. SOME of the replacement fuzzies are metric, not SAE, so keep that in mind when you start shopping for parts.
