Wait a minute, is it the photo or does it seem like the small end is crooked on the pin as in the bore isn't dead perpendicular to the rod centerline or the pin bore in the piston is off?
They may have skewed them intentionally to coincide with the thrust side of each piston... do your pistons have notches in the top to indicatate "forward"? If so, see if their marker lines, the notches, and the thrust side of each piston/rod combo are orchestrated. If the numbers are stamped or engraved on each rod cap, the numbers should also face down/out so they can be read without a mirror.

The pin bosses are (look to be) tapered.... I think it's an optical illusion.
The pin appears slightly off-center. However it will have no effect on performance whatsover. They had the stop on the rod-heater in the wrong location. If you try to repair that now, it'll turn into a bigger operation. It'll be just fine. Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
Well this is the only one of the 8 that's off.The rod is not in the center of the pin. Interesting about not being able to easily center it? Would you guys leave it alone or have them try and correct it?
Does the rod/pin slide in the piston bore or not? It should slide so it being a little off is not a problem, what kind of piston is it (4 valve relief, marked for position...)??? You could install it so that the piston is installed w/ the rod on the cracnk throw to make sure the pin is spaced more evenly between the 2 sides.
Yes the piston slides fine, it's a 4 relief flat top and the black mark is the forward end. I called my guy and he said it should be fine but to bring it back for a look.
Now the next thing I found was a chunk of cast iron on the ground! It's a machined corner wiht 1/2 a tapped hole. It looks like a 5/16-18 thread which I don't think came off my block, I hope not anyway! Maybe it was in the block after it was done and sitting in the shop??
