Default birthday wishes

My birthday is about to come up..July 3, so I decided since I've been workin so hard over the summer I'd buy myself something for the vette. I'm gunna get the 1 7/8 in hooker headers. Question number 1 is should I go ahead and put a 3in all the way back while I'm at it, or should I just keep the 2-1/2? I love the loud sound so if anything its a plus, I'm just not sure if its worth the money or not. Second question is my parents need a present to give me too...so I'm thinking intake. I've seen a lot of posts about it but haven't seen any real answer that I could figure out for my application. Is there any way I could fit an aftermarket intake on the car with the stock hoood, be it drop base filters or whatever or should I just go ahead and get the L88 hood? Its a big block 71 and right now it seems like I only have an inch maybe of hood clearance.

If you are talking about replacing the stock exhaust then there is no better time to do it. Rip out the old exhaust, put on your headers and drive to the exhaust shop like that (kidding)

Actually its not the stock exhaust previous owner put flowmaster on...but its 2-1/2 true dual all the way..but the kicker is its not mandrel bent . The real question is is it worth it to step up to 3in?

Ya if you have a racing engine that revs to 7000 and a money tree growing in your back yard.

Alls I'm tryin to say is you could take the same amount of money you were going to spend on the 3" exhaust and probably get more horsepower out of other mods to your engine. Or more enjoyment out of other upgrades like suspension, brakes, interior, etc...

That's the kind of response I was looking for What other performance mods would you suggest? Any ideas about the intake?
