What started this was removing the headers. I managed to get the passenger side header out around the starter. I have a heat shield to install on the starter that I want on there properly. To do so, I need the starter out otherwise I can only get to two of the three mounting points.

I've never had a problem with a starter being stuck in place. They always fall off the engine like a boat anchor being thown over the side of a boat. It's just this one that is giving me fits. I've found the previous owner was a big fan of slathering adhesives and sealants over problem areas. Maybe he super glued this **** to hold it in place while starting the bolts.

1971corvette - I'd like you to justify your statements of me bubbaing my car up. I took the time to look at some of your other recent posts and must say, you have very little to say other than smart *** comments to amuse yourself. Comments like that are best served in OT, where they are expected.

How can you be bubba if you remove a starter, if you ghetto rig it back in place, then you can call yourself bubba but this doesn't qualify

1st what is this supposed to be? "bubbaing "

2nd. if your not smart enough to remove a starter, why are you even attempting to do so.
You ask for help, we give some good answers, we give some answers you think deserve, "and must say, you have very little to say other than smart *** comments to amuse yourself. Comments like that are best served in OT, where they are expected"
If you can't take a little fun then don't ask for help!
You asked us for help, we answered, then you have the nerve to put us down? Remember u r the one who can't even remove a starter.
Give me a break. You need to sell the vette and buy a sense of humor, or take my "smart ***" comment above and pull the pin, place it between your legs then count to 100. by the time you count as far as you can your starter problem will be solved! oooops there's another "smart ***" comment.

I believe Ak.Mal knows how to remove the starter. Disconnect the lead on the battery, remove wire and bolts at the starter. It should come out. Problem seems it is not coming free. I imagine he posted here for some assurance that there wasn't something unusal. There have been a few comments that attacked him for no reason. When the owner does a repair other than the correct way it is not a Bubba fix. It becomes a Bubba fix when the next owner gets it.

it could have been a bubba job from someone else.

how to learn ???let me think ,oh i know now get a fricking book that's how.
I never said anything about coming here to ask a question.

it is amazing how what i write is read so many different ways by so many people, kinda like the question that started all of this bull.

so (DUDE ) why don't you drive on over to his house and give him a helping hand, and don't let the starter hit you on your head.

This makes absolutely no sense.

So, you're saying he shouldn't ask questions here, but look it up in a book? A book is just another resource, just like the forum.

It seems to me you started this bull. If you don't have anything constructive to say, you should just move on to another thread.

Actually, if he were local, I would. Would you?

You are right and I agree.......I once wrestled with one getting tangled up with the dust shield...when I ran the turkey, realized the dust shield was tweaked as it contacted the flywheel...tick...tick...so had to remove it again,AND remove dust shield, hammer it straight, and reinstall the whole works...bubba had NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT ONE.....

That sounds like a good idea. We actually do have a lot of fun around here until guys like you (know it alls without anything constructive or funny to say) come around. This place has been more useful in the reconstruction of my car than all the books I have put together. Most of us would just like to return the favor without putting others down.

That's great. Sure people come here and ask all sorts of questions, but, IMHO, that's what the forum is all about...a bunch of Corvette owners discussing trials and tribulations with our cars. There are all sorts of owners here, from the ones who have mechanics perform every bit of maintenance, to the ones that can completely disassemble and reassemble their cars. You can't expect comments like yours to be well received. I'm sorry you're not enjoying it here.

Do you really think I would have asked how to remove my starter if it had come out after removing the bolts and electrical connections? Either it is stuck or I'm stuck trying to figure out how to remove it. That is the exact reason for this post. I've learned a lot from this forum, luckily arrogance isn't one of them.

Thank you to all that have posted with the intent of helping. I really do appreciate it. Hopefully I'll have time tonight to get back under the car and get this resolved.
