Default Need to ID Part

little red electrical part sitting to rear of carb on passenger side. what is it? mine ticks interemittenly. is it suppose to? if not then i need to replace it but don't what it is or what to ask for. this is a stock 1981 l 81. thanks in advance

I don't remember anything red near the rear of my carb, and mine is now too far from stock to look The only thing electrical in that spot I can remember is a vacuum switch and the tach filter. Neither of these should do much ticking. Are you sure you are not hearing the soleniod in the carb doing it's thing? It will may a ticking sound.

i think you are correct about the ticking coming from the carb. will check out another stock 81 this weekend at a cruise in if he shows. thanks
