the driver's bank plugs are ALL....BRICK RED on the porcelain....
any ideas???
I thought the block/heads something were aluminum...he says the heads are IRON....oh well....so much for memories...
something about the water jacket being open to the head gasket...as in weird configuration....cylinder head bolts going down to the main cap areas....
anybody have any answers and or refresh my memory please....

Anyway... red porcelin is gas additives. Either they like pouring stuff in the tank or they use premium. They should run regular in the car. It will run better.
The stuff about the cooling system is this:
The block is aluminum and heads iron. The blocks are porous (sp?). Using block sealer in the coolant is mandatory. You can get the tablets from GM or you can use the stuff from the parts store. Make sure it's tablets. They work the best. "Golden seal".
I can also highly recommend replacing the catalytic converter in case it is still original. I swapped in a $85 direct fit cat from summit and picked up 4 mpg on the highway and noticable power. I've gotten over 26 mpg average highway several times on 400 mile road trips.
