Dunno, i'ts got supposedly 200k miles on it, and belongs to his g/friends buddy/friend...female....I can't belive it on the mileage, but due to age/car I suspect it may be true...but I thought ALL HT4100 engines went the way of the do do bird some years ago...

Brick red?? that to me is near burgundy, NOT brown...

I have a Caddy as well with the HT4100. 83 DeVille. Great engine. I don't care what some people say. Still untouched and runs fine.

Anyway... red porcelin is gas additives. Either they like pouring stuff in the tank or they use premium. They should run regular in the car. It will run better.

The stuff about the cooling system is this:

The block is aluminum and heads iron. The blocks are porous (sp?). Using block sealer in the coolant is mandatory. You can get the tablets from GM or you can use the stuff from the parts store. Make sure it's tablets. They work the best. "Golden seal".

I can also highly recommend replacing the catalytic converter in case it is still original. I swapped in a $85 direct fit cat from summit and picked up 4 mpg on the highway and noticable power. I've gotten over 26 mpg average highway several times on 400 mile road trips.
