I have Flowmaster 40's on my 80 w/true dual and an x-pipe. They sound good but DO resonate at around 1500 - 2000 rpm. That can be annoying when cruising around town. On the highway they sound great with no annoying resonance. Maybe some day, I might switch to Dynomax Super Turbos. For now, I'm keeping the 40's.
Just out of curiosity, does anybody run the Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers...That's what I'm thinking about using when I do exhaust sometime this fall...
If you're lookin for a decent flow and quiter sound....I'm running Raptor mufflers. They're sorta flat and do not hang down much also.
They were on the car when I got it.
I am happy with my stainless steel Magnaflows. Good deep rumble at idle but not too loud, doesn't sound like a truck. When I giver they make my car sound way faster than it is.
Some guys say the Flowmasters are too rumbly at idle.
I have the SS Magnaflows and I think the sound awsome. Not to loud, no resonance, and they look sweet!
I think the Flowmasters are too loud and you see them on alot of red neck pickups.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
I had the Flowmaster DeltaFlow 40's on mine when I put the 3 inch exhaust on, a low RPM resonance that rattles your fillings, setting off the neighbours car alarm at idle and people stopping 20 feet behind you at stop lights gets old really fast. I put the Super Turbos with 3 inch internal pipes on and am happy with them
You see a lot of pickups with Flowmaster 40's on them because they sound good; not because everyone that drives a pickup is a red neck. I have a great looking '89 Silverado with a nice "built" 350 and a great sounding exhaust. I must be a red neck! So, since I have 40's on my '79 Vette that must make me a double red neck. Loud exhausts do not make a person or a vehicle a red neck. That comes from within the person. That dog does not hunt!

Dynomax Super Turbos Here. I have sound clips I could send if you get me your email address. Very quiet at cruise (no noise) a little rumble at idle and a controled roar at WOT. No imbarasing "whoosh" when you get on it. One of the least restrictive HP wise and definately one of the quietest HP muffs out there.
I just got an email from another CF member saying how much he liked the Super Turbos. I had sent him some movie clips and he decided to buy them.
-Mark.
Ditto. Thanks for the clips Mark. I got mine just before the rebate deal ended and am looking forward to some 'flat on my back' time under the vette, when I get back from vacation.
