Head light switch removal
I have a 1980 that I'am trying to remove the dash pad in. I don't see how to release the shaft from the switch, or how to remove the wiper switch. Any help would be appreciated.

I found the best way to get at the headlight switch was to remove the instrument cluster first. Especially if you are going to want to remove your wiper switch as well. Take off the little panel below your steering column and loosen the 2 bolts holding up your steering column. Take all the screws out of your cluster lens and your cluster and remove. Then you will have access to your switches. There is a little release button on the right side of your headlight switch that needs to be pressed to release your switch ****.Next is a nut on the front side of your dash that you must thread off. Then you will have to release the electical connectors and the 2 vacuum hoses. The wiper switch has 1 small screw with a nut style head that must be removed along with a couple electical connectors.
