Another option would be to use the dual intake front facing OE cold air from a late 70s C3. It will fit under your BB hood and you get a little ram air effect at speed.
Might not work if the carburetor is a Holley. I had clearance problems with the base of the air cleaner and the top of the Holley fuel bowl with my single snorkle on a 77. I assume a dual would be the same.

Read somewhere that that piece that you want to put on top of your carb will not work with anything but FI. Something about air flow path above the carb. I would use something like that in a minute, if it did work.
