Default 71 rear marker light

can a 74-81 rear marker light fit on a 71 because they're so much cheaper than those for 71, i understand the only difference is that 71 had a metal backing and 74 and up had a plastic backing.And Wahta about the license plate asembly for 74'? Im 15 and building my vette on a budget.

I got mine from ebay, $49 each is crazy
Did you post this in the c3parts wanted /forsale area?
If someone is parting out, maybe you could get some that way

No, you're gonna have to find some used ones to get 'em cheaper.
My experiences trying to find good used ones cheap ... well, good luck.
I have a couple that work OK - but they have different lenses.
You end up spending $50 trying to buy a 'good' one.
Yeah - you can re-sell the ones you buy and don't like.

Good luck. A 15YO budget can be very tough when trying to build a car.
