Default Where does this wire go?

I've been working under the hood replacing worn out pipes and whilst I was there I found a light blue wire spliced out of the main harness that runs down the drivers side. It's spliced out next to the alternator and seemed to run back towards the drivers compartment. I noticed it was also wrapped in tape which was in pretty bad shape so I thought I'd replace the tape.... I must have disloged where the connector the wire was attached to because after getting rid of the tape i was left with a wire that was no longer attached to anything with a nice shiny connector!

I've checked the voltage and I get 12volts down the wire with the ignition on..... does anyone know where this wire belongs?

1980 C3 4sp

Anyone?

I think you are looking at the "Diagnostic Check" wire, part of the Fuel Metering Solenoid circuit.

Of course, it could be for the Choke Heater, the Engine Temperature Switch, or the Anti-Theft Hood Switch.

I don't know if this helps, but I have a green wire in the same location on my '80 auto that runs to the locking torque converter. I don't know if it could be another color (blue) or if it would be part of the wiring harness on a 4 speed.
