Default Polyurathane Engine Mounts

I was wondering what the benefit was to installing P.E.M. From what I can see by installing them more engine vibration will be transferred to the car making the car shake when the enginr is reved. I have a polyurathane transmission mount form a suspension kit but if I install it again what benefit will there be. I can see cracking the transmission because the rubber engins mounts will flex but the P.T.M. wont.

Same reason. Engine torques over to the pass side and can rip a rubber mount apart if the engine is strong enough. I don't see a need for anything but stock on the passenger side but the drivers side mount has a hard life.

I used poly on the last motor tranny change and it has about 4,000 miles on it. I haven't felt any difference. I beleive these were made for street cars and should give long life without unit damage. If you're concerned call the tech line and ask one their people just what the limits may be for them. I've had the GM rubber mounts split in half with 18k miles on them from a 250 hp slug motor. They have built in locks too.

Locking motor mounts are more important.

I ripped a regulay AC Delco replacement mount apart in no time. Brand new mount, with a brand new 383. As soon as that bad boy was broken in, the first donut ripped the mount in two. Now I have the Energy Suspension Poly mounts from Summitt. So far so good

Another option is to put the PEM on the driver side and a rubber one on the pass. side. If I build a stout motor for a car sometimes driven on the street I may put a solid mount on the driver side and rubber on the pass side. This way you still have a little give with the rubber being able to compress and this helps eliminate some of the vibration associated with just solid mounts.

If you have a manual transmission with the mechanical clutch linkage, they help with the disengagement of the clutch when the pedal is depressed. If you do a sum of the forces as the pedal is depressed, the linkage actually forces forward on the engine and reduces the clutch fork travel. After installing the P.E.M's, my shifts were improved under hard acceleration at the track.
