Hurst shifter - Installation option / question
I have my M21 transmission out to replace the flywheel - while its out I'm going to install a hurst shifter in place of the GM OEM shifter.
The question is - should I install & adjust the shifter on the trans (minus the handle) before if reinstall it ? or should I install it after the transmission is back in the car ?? I have a 4spd car with the non-removeable crossmember .... Thanks

Frank, it is easier to install and adjust the shifter on the bench as that is what I did. However I am not sure you can get it all in with the fixed crossmember. I had installed mine with the engine. Hopefully someone will chime in on whether you can get the trans w/ shifter in.

Glen242 - did you have an unmoveable crossmember ??
I can try with the shifter attached (minus the shift lever) and worse case I'll end up doing whet Big_G suggested
