Default ongoing headlight problems

My 73' vette dosn't have an extra switch to open and close the headlights. Just the main light switch. Of course they don't work correctly. Could this had been taken off or did this year not have the added on/off seperate switch. If I have the light switch turned off they will close otherwise I have to disconect the hoses at the lights and open the manually. Any Ideas? Thanks

All C-3's have an over-ride switch for the headlight doors...always below the steering column...An assembly manual will show the parts location....G/L

It certainly sounds like someone BUBBA'd your headlight system. This could be the nightmare of all nightmares. This system was an engineering feat when new. It is real difficult to get it to work properly when it gets old. If parts are missing only God knows how it works and if it doesn't work only God could fix it.

My opinion is your only hope is to start from the beginning and put it back together. There are several websites devoted to this task so hopefully someone will pitch in and provide some of them.

To help iscolate or as a get home "just in case"

Open hood and look down between nose and hood in the front of radiator

undo Tee connection and suck on vaccum line s switch would do.
If canisters are good they'll open
Blow in the tube to close.

I know this will get some replys so bring em on!
