Default Vacuum Canister

Do I need to have the canister in the drivers side fender connected to vacuum or can I plug it? I had it sharing a port with the headlights but then the headlights would not go up and down. I have limited vacuum ports now that I put the Speed Demon on.

On my car that is the vaccum reservoir, it is there so that you can operate the headlights or wiper door one more time after shutting the engine down. I have given thought to bypassing mine also, just because I think mine has a leak in it anyway.

I bypassed mine, think it leaks. Mine apparently serves the dual purpose of also storing vacuum for a low vacuum engine- the stock one.

It sure is damn big for a vacuum tank.
My bandwidth is exceeded so dump that site.

I do believe that is a Charcoal Cannister for the Fuel System and you need it to cut down on the Gas Fumes .
The Vacuum Cannister for the headlights is in the front of the car at least it is on my 81....
Correct me if I am wrong.

On later model C3's, the vacuum tank is a long metal tube at the front of the car. Early C3's had the vacuum tank under the driver side fender, under the brake master cylinder.

Default Do a search.

I answer this in detail at least once a month. And could answer it weekly as requested but tired of it. If u have troubles using search then look in my profile at most recent posts. Or if u still need help PM with ur question but i don't see the need to repeat whats already easily availble.
I recently rebuilt my EVC sys and it's not very expensive, takes nothing from performance and helps the fuel tank & sys vent fuel vapor & press. cardo0

There are 2 tanks on the earlier C3's, one right above the other. The lower is the gas tank fume venter. The upper is the vacuum system reservior. I've also looked at "cleaning up" a bit by removing that thing. Might get to it someday.
