We've been here before but hear it goes again...I'm replacing my Fel-Pro 1204's with 1256 w/printoseal. Can I or should put a skim coat of black RTV around each port. I was going to use RTV only to hold it in place. Good or bad idea...
This has been beaten down like an old horse! Didn't you ask this before? The printo-seal is all you need, unless you have tolerence issues. Check the previous threads on this for the refresher info. Additional RTV around the coolant ports would help with any corrosion/pitting on the old hardware. Remember to apply some to the bolt threads before installing, this will keep the oil from wicking up the threads and collecting on the manifold in pools.
Did you check the interface angle between the intake and heads? If you had issues with burning oil (which I think you did) than this HAS to be addressed before installing more gaskets. Otherwise it's a waste of time and money.
