I have been told my power steering all needs to be replaced and if I replace with the stock parts good chance it will leak again soon.
I did search previous threads and found people fixing original but you do here how long it lasted. I would rather spend more on after market if it stops the leaking and steers better.
I installed all new components with the exception of the PS pump on my '73 in 1991. (Lines, cylinder, control valve, etc.) It has performed flawlessly since. I did flush the pump and clean it before putting in new PS fluid. It hasn't had 10k miles put on it since, but works great and doesn't leak.
Use only quality parts and you won't regret it in my opinion.
I replaced the entire ps system when I baught the car,put on 130,000 miles,it leaked the whole time.Just kept adding fluid.Last summer I forgot to add fluid and I burned the bearings in the ps pump. It now sits proudly in a corner of the garage.I will be converting to manual rack and pinion or manual steering in the future for sure.
I am on the same program as the guy above, I have a leaker, I just check it every so often and fill er' back up. When it is pretty close to being empty mine makes a bit of noise, so I know when it is getting dry. Good luck.
Been through a couple of pumps and two control valves...the last new control valve from three years ago now leaks..but just leaks if sitting cold overnight..will just install a kit this time...
Biggest problem I've had is with the 27 year old hoses. I've replaced two of them once and one of them twice. I guess I should start buying good ones instead of the cheap stuff.
All of you guys have mentioned to use "quality parts". Where do we go to make sure that we get "quality parts"? Just curious. Mine leaks too. I built the valve a little while back and chipped off a small wall that one of the hoses screws into. So it leaks like I would expect it to. Also, I didn't adjust it right when I put the control valve back on. I now have power steering when I turn left, but not when I turn right.

So, vendor of choice?
Well speaking from limited experience (I just rebuilt my control valve) ecklers as far as rebuild kits for the CV are good quality. I had some difficulty rebuilding the CV on the vehicle, but it can be done. I ended up removing it, rebuilding it on the bench, and reinstalling. It hasnt leaked a drop since. I am still using the the 26 year old hoses and they are not leaking.
As far as adjusting the CV its not that bad. you just turn the nut that is located behind the dust cover on the CV until you get balanced steering. Earlier threads cover this. I imagine I will need to replace the hoses soon. But for now they are not leaking so I will continue to use them.

I have used Vette Brakes and Products for lots of suspension parts and never been disappointed.
I don't know if Van Steel rebuilds cylinders and control valves, but if they rebuilt "pacemakers" I wouldn't hesitate to buy one!
Don't know what I'd do with it, but I sure do trust their work!

I rebuilt my own steering ram and control valve and have had no leaks with either one yet. I may have gotten lucky but so far so good. It has been around 3 years at least with my setup.

I just got it a week or so ago and I have not installed it yet. It has been in the mid 90's here and way too hot for me to knock around in the garage. I would love to be able to tell you about them. There are quite a few members here with the Steeroids setup. Do a search for Steeroids and you should come up with some impressions of the system.
