Default door panel install

like a lot of older vettes my project car door panels were held on by screws and washers on the outside of the panels -i came up with some new door panels and then in my catalog it showed some door panel clips - so i went to my vette manual and it really doesn't say much about how the panels go on -if anyone can tell me how to properly install panels with the clips i would really appreciate it - thanks for all of your help my name says it all

vettevirgin, you have to change your name. Ain't a virgin anymore

If you don't care about originality- I painted fiberglass resin on the inside all over the cardboard. That and glassed those lousy clips on too. Just that cardboard holding them in. My screws were pulled through so glassed a small pad over them.

These door skins are cheaper than

I am not sure what goes into the holes for the door pull on #1 and #2. When I replaced my door panels there was a plastic tarp in place so I never paid much attention to a clip being there. I used the original door pull and screws, and it grabs into something. So I am no help there.

But to make things easier, you need to take the door latch off before you put your door panels on. The latch has a screw on the inside. When you take that off, the latch will slide off the base and that will make aligning the door panel a lot easier. The latch fits into a shoe or slot in the door lock mechanism.

This shows the clip-yellow. It slides in under the cardboard, should be a slot for it. Notice the screw goes in from left to right in this picture, not into the door panel.

There will be a counter sunk hole in the door jamb for the counter sunk hole in the clip.

Hook the top of the door skin on the window ledge. Wiggle it around to align a screw. The door pull is usually good or the bottom. put the screws in and pound with your hand the velcroy things into mash together.

The clips should be first inserted into slots on the panel. After putting the panel on, the clips should align with holes where a screw holds them to the door.
