Howdy, I'm new to this forum as I stumbled over it googling last week. But I like it allready! I have a 1979 corvette which still needs some work and which I would like to buff up a little in the future.
I'm planning to renew the hoses to and from the powersteering cilinder and I'm going to revise the cilinder itself. Has anyone here done that before? Any tips? The Haynes and assembly manual don't say too much about it, so it looks to be pretty straight-forward...?
If I remember correctly, I did mine entirely out of the Haynes manual. (control valve rebuild). It seemed to be pretty easy. Although I haven't done it yet, I would image that the pump is the hardest thing to rebuild. I think I bought all of my parts from Corvette Central. Hope this helps.
I bought a rebuild kit for my pump a few months ago. It was fairly easy to rebuild although I had to rent a pulley puller to get the pump apart. Pretty straightforward - instructions were in the kit which was about 15 bucks at NAPA.
