aluminum heads
I'm need some suggestions on picking out new aluminum heads for my new 355.
I have about $1000 to spend on heads and want a good flowing head capable of making around 450hp out of the box.
Here are my engine specs:
355ci
speed pro flat top pistons(-5cc)
xs274s solid cam- 236/242 .508/.517 110 LSA
comp 1.52 roller tip rockers
rpm air gap intake w/1" carb spacer
750cfm speed demon mech sed
1 5/8" headers
I'm building the motor for high performance street use, so I want to stay under a 200cc intake runner.
What kind of heads can I get for $1000 or less?
Thanks
I found a few heads that sound like a good deal. theres a website that sells dart pro 1 aluminum heads for $1070 with free shipping. These same heads are like 1200-1300 from summit.
Brodix also has a new high performance street head with 200cc, 2.02", 64cc. Summit has them for $999.95

I had pretty hot 355ci motors with up to roller cams.My advice is look at the long term. You can use the aluminum heads on future products with bigger ci.
I ran as high as 230cc Dart pro1's on 355 with single plane intakes on the street. I've had single plane intakes and big heads since the mid 80's on my 79.
Your cam really determines what your motor is.

gkull I'll probably end up building a 383-406ci in the future. so I want a head that will work with my 355 and a bigger inch small block

For my first 383 build I bought the Dart Pro1 215 with the optional 2.08/1.625 valves. They had the factory bowl blending done and they had just over 300 cfm intake at .600 lift. I was worried about to big of ports with just 383 ci. I later moved to the Dart 227cc cnc. It's not just the head port size that matters it's the whole intake manifold to the valve that counts.
I'm trying 210cc heads on my 427 small block. They had been sitting new in a box on my shelf for over a year. They run just about how i expected. They flow something like 286 cfm intake. I've not run heads this small in years. They are going to come off and the Dart 227's are going to get a valve job and try for 2.15 intake valves and 1.625 ex.
