1971. Headlights not working properly. New vacuum lines. Drivers side goes up. Passengers side does not. Drivers side will then not go down. Need suggestions. Actuators seem to be fairly new.
Quick check would be to switch hoses between the driver and passenger side regulators (after marking first!). If the passenger side now works but the drivers side doesn't, I would look at the hoses and/or regulator on the passenger side.
I would isolate the headlight vacuum system from the wiper door system as well (disconnect the wiper system).
Then I would isolate each headlight. Start with the left one. If the hoses are good and they've got plenty of vacuum, it's got to be either the actuator, the actuator relay, or some sort of mechanical problem with the headlight door. My money would be on either the actuator or the actuator relay.
A hand vacuum pump is invaluable for this kind of stuff.
Thanks for the info. After much research last night, I am headed to the Zone this am to get the vacuum pump, and will follow your suggestions. To isolate the headlight system I assume that you just disconnect the wiper door vacuum line right at the T where the vacuum line to the right headlight relay comes off the vacuum tank and then plug it.
