how does this whole back assembly come apart??? got the rear wheel off and now I'm like DA!!!! I also have to change a halfshaft universal on the other side. I'm LOST!!!!!!
Try to disconnect it from just in front of the differential... there's a bolt there that will allow you to loosen both wheel lines, and put enough slack into the system to disconnect it all...
Unless you need to work on the brake leave it alone.
The half shafts come out all by their lonesome. The only other thing needed is to pivot the hub out with the strut rods. The cam bolt does that.
You should check your spindle endplay too.
To do this you need to move the inner end of the 1/2 shaft which your doing. Just need a dial indicator and magnetic clamp deal to check it.
It would be good to check the E. brake as you can expect some of the return springs to be broken. Check if the unnecessary rivets are still in the rear rotor, if so drill out & remove rivets.
The tech. writers looked the situation over, made a guess & ran. <tech. writers
"NOTE: The head of the rear hold down spring pin is not accessible. It will be necessary to hold the pin in position with one pair of needle nose pliers while attempting to grasp the pin end with another pair of needle nose pliers."
