Looking at purchasing my new mufflers and dynomax seemed to be a popular choice...now I need to decide which model. Ultraflos seem nice but cost 104 a piece...super turbos are only 39 will the super turbos flow enough? What about the sound from each? Is for the 71 454 mild cam and 1-7/8 primaries on the hookers...
Super Turbos are almost as quiet as stock exhaust. But they provide a unrestricted (although not straight) path through the muffler. Highly recommended unless noise is what you're looking for. Just did the swap yesterday!
You probably want to get the Vette specific Super Turbos that cost about $100-$120 each. They come with the right tailpipe/inlet and the right length casing. If you can find those for $39 you need to tell us where.
The Super Turbos are quiet at cruise, loud at WOT and have a fairly quiet idle. A lot depends on the compression ratio and the camshaft timing. On a near stock Vette they are pretty tame. The flow is excellent.
I paid $169.00 for two Super Turbos three years ago..Nice sound..louder that stock..excellant flow..got many compliments on sound..Ok for long road trips..

I agree. I have the super turbos in the 3 inch size and they are about as quiet as I could find. They are 3 inch all the way through and just pass the exhuast gas back and forth a few times to quiet it but the flow is good.
I had a "super turbo" a few years ago, no sound at all (as quiet as the stock muffler)... now, after two years listening to that flowmaster noise I bought a "ultra flow" and I'm amazed.... no restriction (straight thru design) and it's quiet on the interstate at 2500 rpm....it's loud (I mean LOUD) at wot
This is on a '99 Z28....... I would think that the difference between the two is not a lot different on the Corvette.... the 2.5" inlet/outlet 'ultra flow' mufflers are $79 each at AdvancedAutoParts...
Just got my 100.00 rebate on the Ulta-Flows(17219's) , I think the price was about 70.00 each at a local speed shop, end price was 20.00 each.
I bought these also....$69.88 each from Summit....after I receive my $50 rebate per muffler, they will have effectively cost 19.88 each. I spent the money I saved on an x-pipe . Vids w/Dyomax mufflers here: http://f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/..._sound&.view=l

Where did you buy your x-pipe from? I've been searching all over the place for a reasonably priced x-pipe to finish my exhaust and it either comes in a kit with a bunch of stuff I don't need or stainless steel and costs a mint for instance from Magnaflow. I need a decent aluminized x-pipe in 2.5".
