auto trans leak question

auto trans leak question

The radiator on my '75 sits a bit low allowing the lower transmission cooling line to sit on the frame resulting in a worn out spot and a leak. Because i don't wish to pull the radiator(the fitting doesn't appear to want to come out of the radiator) I simply pulled the upper line and bypassed the radiator. Is this okay temporarily? I have to make a six hour trip this weekend. Should I get a new radiator or would a seperate trans cooler be even better?

You can run a trans cooler in FRONT of the radiator/ac condenser. Make sure it has the correct cooling capacity for your vehicle.

just get a seperate trans cooler and it should be even better

I got a huge one from a junkyard (out of rolled Crown Vic cop car) for 25 bucks. Getting to those fittings on the rad is a nightmare unless you want to pull the fan/shroud/all that other stuff up there.
