Hi, I have a 1970 Vette with a 1100884 (61amp) alternator and I am looking to have it rebuilt, but the gal at Quick Start told me that their supplier did not have a kit for that part number and I dont know if it is a "si" or a "dn" type alternator, but she did have it for a 1971 vette, alternator 1100544, how do I find out which one I need and what does "si" and "dn" mean. Thanks, Jim
Great article! Jim .. you definately have an si alternator ... 10si I think .... stands for "system integrated" .... has the rectangular 2-connector plug. I have the 1100881 which is th 42amp version of yours. The dn is the older, externally regulated type with a square plug.
Hi, Thanks for the info on the alternator and the website for MAD Enterprises, everyone should take a look at it as it has some great info on alternators and how to identify them and I thought I had a "SI" (system intergrated) but wanted to be sure before I ordered any parts for it. Thanks again
Hi, just ordered the 597 part number rebuild kit from MAD Enterprises that has the internal parts and bearings, and I am having a local shop rebuild it for me, I think the fan was cad plated and if so I will get that done also. Thanks for your help and all the info, I will let you know how it turns out.Jim

Where can I find the part numbers on mine? I have no idea if it is the original but I have taken it all apart and blasted the housing and powdercoated it. It looks nice now but I am sure I have ruined it as far as the perfectly correct stuff.
