Following up on the alignment job. I knew I was going to need some shims to do the alignment. Called Autozone, supposedly they do not carry them. After looking on Napa web site I see they carry them. Call the local store and give the person some part numbers. None of those part numbers in stock but he goes back and tells me what they have. He tells me they carry the 1/8" and 1/16" shims. These 'old' shims are not a popular item according to him. I get 6 of each. The car has a couple of 1/32" shims and I figure I can move shims as needed. I started first on the drivers side. I had the camber close and the caster at slightly more than 4*. I figured before I set it to where I wanted it I would start making some adjusmnets to the passenger side. No sense spending time finishing the drivers side if I could not duplicate the setting on passenger side. At this point in time I have a good idea of what the driver side was capable of being set at. I start the passenger side and finish it at .25*Neg camber and approximately 4.4*Pos caster. I then went back to the drivers side, two more changes and now have it at .125*Neg camber and appoximately 4.4*Pos caster. I still have to add thin shims to the front and back to get the camber to match the passenger side. I am not sure if I have thin enough shims to do this. If not, I'll make a couple out of thin sheet metal. This took about 2 to 2 1/2 hours and it was 9:30PM. I haven't eaten all day. By now it was time to make the Pizza (took the dough out of the fridge prior to working on the car) and drink a couple of Old Mills. One of the things I enjoy as much as working on the vette is making Pizza. Toughest part of that is knowing how to make the dough and stretch it into a nice thin 15" circle.
