BB bypass hose
Can anyone tell me if the short hose that runs from the water pump to the intake on a big block can be plugged off? I seem to have noticed that small block cars have a plug in this location, Thanks, John

To my knowledge the hose is a bypass to allow coolant to flow from the engine to the water pump and circulate until the t-stat opens. Unless you use one of the partially open t-stats or drill holes in the t-stat to allow flow before fully open there will be pretty heavy pressure built up in the block. Stewart water pumps has some articles on this.
