The nuts you are referring to are an odd size. They are much thinner than usually seen and have a 9/16 diameter fine thread. I found some for my '68's radio at my local hardware store in the electrical section where they stock repair parts for lamps. They were in those specialty hardware bins along with some other electrical items. It seems that many lamps use the same size nuts to secure the light bulb sockets to the base using those cylindrical tubes with the external threads that go the entire length (somewhat like the **** stems on your radio).
