help...stupid idiot light...
Ok... On my 81 Corvette (which has not given much issue to date), today I drive it about 10 miles round trip, put it in the driveway for a few hours, then pull it back into the garage. When I shut it off, th stupid battery light turns on... everything is off, no power to anything I can find, but this idiot light... ok.. I try all the basics, start it, shut it off again, yada yada... I have no clue on this one. Any help is mucho appreciatto... Damn I love Corvettes! ;-)

My gen light acts like that sometimes (usually while driving though). If I flip the headlights on and off a few times and it goes off. I figure it's the voltage regulator getting ready to fail.

fixed it
Well... nothing ventured nothing gained I guess... I started disconnecting things until I got the light to go out. What turned the light off was pulling the 2 wire plug from the alternator. That ledt me to the diode cluster must be shorted. I decided rather than play with it, I'd just put a new alternator on it.... problem solved. Thanks for the input.
