Default Did I jump time?

Replaced my intake. When re-installing the distributor, I noticed that the rotor was pointing at #3 or 4 (passenger side). Pulled it out a few times and sure enough, that’s where it’s landing (either that or 180). Double checked the timing mark on 0, pulled number one plug and ran a zip tie in, appears to be top dead center.

Timing chain slip or am I missing something?

The rotor can point anywhere you want it to.
its spoda point at the tower on the cap for that plug.

Avette4me,
Not likely that it jumped time but what does happen is that the oil pump drive shaft is having a difficult time lining up with the bottom of the distributor drive shaft.

You could get a long screwdriver and turn the oil pump drive shaft a bit to make it easy to align with the distributor shaft. Keep in mind that the disributor shaft will rotate as the gears mesh on the way down. If you miss by a tooth you can always rotate it out and turn it a little bit more. If the bottom of the disributor is not flush with the intake manifold, then the oil pump drive is not engaged and it is preventing the distributor from dropping all the way down.

Thanks Mark,

I just got back in from turning the drive a little. Worked perfectly.

I sincerely appreciate your help...

Lonny
