Default Temp Question

Okay I got the carb and timing set right. Put a new water pump on just to make sure eveything was flowing well. The old one was so so. The radiator is flowing good. I ran the car in the garage with a fan moving the exhaust fuems out the door I also removed the thermostat and after about 25 minutes of idiling the temp got to 210 is this okay or bad.

Sounds a litte on the hi side but not all that bad. My 79 has a new 4core radiator, water pump, thermostadt, hoses and fan clutch. It rarely gets above 200* even with the A/C on. Maybe your fan clutch is getting weak? However, my 95 Chevy PU with a 350ci always run at 200-210* and I consider that normal for it.

I do not have a/c and also the motor has about 50 miles on it since it was rebuilt. I do have a big cam in the motor The specs is a 350 bored over .30 with a 516 comp cam. Also it has headers and true dual with dynomax super turbo mufflers. I have a 12 and 10 inch electric fan attached directly to the radiator.

A newly rebuilt engine will run a little hotter than one that has been broken in. Give the engine a few hundred miles before starting to worry too much.
