Default Still, another problem...will it ever end?

Why did I open my mouth?
I thought I was done with fixing problems
What is the stock max current draw for an ’82 Corvette at rest (no key in the ignition)?
Now that I have the '82 running again, I decided to look for more problems...stupid me. I’ve measured the battery current at 75mA while the car is at rest. I assume this is way too much. My aftermarket alarm system is drawing 13mA of the current and the courtesy light circuit is drawing 50mA (should be almost nothing with doors shut and dome light switch off). The courtesy light bulbs are not lit but, when I remove all the bulbs, the current draw is reduced by 50mA. Looking at the wiring diagram, it appears to be a "leaky" courtesy light delay timer module…what does it look like and where the heck is this thing?

The courtesy light timer is taped to the wiring harness, behind the glove-box. White, or yellow by now, 2x2x1/2 inches...

pull the fuse from the ram power lead of the ECM, it's above the battery, orange wire w/ inline fuse holder. See how much amps the ECM draws (honestly I wouldn't know, never tested it)

Of course! Where else would it be? I was just saying to myself..."self, look where you least expect it to be".

Thanks big_G

I did one better...I totally unplugged the ECM and measured the current difference...nothing. Apparently, the ECM draws less than 1mA when the key is off. Then, After pulling all the stock fuses, I was left with the current draw from my aftermarket stereo and alarm system...which measured about 25mA. I then pulled the fuse to the alarm system and the current decreased by 13mA. I just assumed the remaining 12mA current draw was from the stereo.

I was all done mine until last week when the blower went out. And I looked at the fresh paint that shrunk and needs color sanding again. And that #4 body mount bracket on the right side that's rotted. And that wiring harness that's seen better days. And those interior panels that don't quite fit right................. But everythings fixed!!!!!

Tried to warn ya!

Seriously though, if you fixed everything, then you'd probably take the car for granted. The C3 gods won't let that happen so they let things break at the worst possible time. Good luck with it and don't let it get you down.
