HEI distributor shaft end play?
Hi,
For a 76 HEI distributor is 1/16 inch end play in the shaft too much? What range is acceptable? I have no real problem that I know of but as long as it is out I would like to fix it if needed. Who sells shim kits, NAPA, Autozone????

Optimum end play is .004" - .007". Use Moroso shims part number 26140. Be sure to re-install your distributor gear the right way (clocking dimple pointing same way as the rotor firing tab).
