Default Another rear end rebuild...

I am nearing the last stages of reassembling my rear end (78 Silver Anniversary).

I removed the entire diff and 3rd member and had the diff professionally rebuilt (1 new yoke, all new bearings, seals and clutches).

I have purchased, but not yet installed Eckler's Heavy Duty Strut Rod Kit, Rear Crossmember Cushions and Front Differential Bracket Mounting Kit.

I am also replacing the 4 halfshaft u-joints with Axle Shaft U-Joints.

So my questions are...the strut rod kit says it comes with instructions...but does not. Anything that's not obvious I should know about them before installing?

What else is HIGHLY recommended when doing the rear end? What other parts are must haves?

Thanks in advance,
-Fed

Have you rebuilt your trailing arms?

Since the trailing arms have been done the struts should come off without much trouble. I couldn't get mine off until I got the t. arms off. Sounds like you have everything you need. Good luck!

Now's a good time for rear spring & sway bar bushings. Drive shaft U-joints?? Paint the underside & frame rails too.

I don't have a sway bar for the rear...did the 78's come stock with them? And since I don't have one, would that be a highly recommended upgrade?
