I am installing a complete A/C setup from an 81 in my previously non-A/C 68. So far no big problems, however I will not be able to install the cowl air door that switches the air source from outside air (plenum air or Bi-level mode) to cabin air (closed cabin operation or MAX air). The reason for this is that I do not want to take the front clip off. This leaves me with 2 options. Permanently close the plenum air supply so that the system only works in MAX mode or leave it as is and operate the A/C on Bi-level.
I am leaning towards the Bi-level mode because I live in a moderate climate and the car is a convertible. Also, I think one the problems with Bi-level is the defrost function but I can't imagine EVER driving this car in the rain after the work I have gone through making this car as I want it.
Any thoughts on these options? Who votes Bi-level and who votes MAX (and why)?
