Hi
I have not driven car in about 3 weeks, I get in today to move and my foot goes to floor when I stepted on break, also I have some fluid on inside of wheel, however after taking a short ride the breaks seem fine and firm, What do you think is it safe to drive or should I pull the callipers and rebuild? They were rebuilt last winter.
Fix source of leak....check break hose as well..mine was a caliper...fluid on inside of tire...pedal went half way to floor...Don't drive it in that condition...
I have to agree. Fix the leak. If it is a caliper have it rebuilt or exchange it, but don't risk your life or someone elses. The next time the pedal goes to the floor just might be at an intersection. Good luck!

Crud builds up in the caliper bore and interfears with the seal. Pull the wheel and use a putty knife between the disc and pads to push the pistons into their bores eight or a dozen times. Bleed caliper and reinstall wheel. Keep an eye on it.
Last October mine had a problem with the RR sucking air and weeping a little. Did the above routine and has been fine since.
I have new pistons and caliper kits on the shelf for when it acts up again. And it will.
C3 brakes have a problem with fluid leaking past the rubber seal on the brake piston. This is especially true when the car has been sitting for a while. The problem is the design of the seal depends on pressure in the system. There is a new design of seal for this. The new design is simply the old technology of using an O-ring on the piston. There is also an extreme duty design using two O-rings on each piston. If your calipers have been sleeved there is a kit you can buy to convert to the O-ring design. Vette Brake and Products or Ecklers.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the help, Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I just ordered O-ring rebuild kit from Vette Brake, Thanks again.
I just put the VBP O-Ring kit in about 2 months ago. It was easy to do and worked great. I also replaced the rear steel lines with new stainless steel lines and all 4 rubber lines with stainless steel braided lines.
