Electrical Problem
I have a 1978 Corvette and I have replaced 4 batteries in the last 3 months, I will put a new battery in and every thing will be fine for 2-3 weeks and then the battery will go dead and the battery charger will say that I have a faulty cell. What could be going wrong with the electrical system to continually ruin batteries? Thanks for your help on this matter.

First get a battery cut off & install on the negative terminal of the battery. Then take your battery out of the circuit when you're not using the car ( this will save your battery). You've got something draining the battery, you can narrow the cause down by hooking an amp meter between the negative cable & the battery. Look at the gauge as it will probably show a slight current drain. Then one by one pull a fuse until the metter reads 0. You will have then located the bad circuit. After this it gets harder, because you have to check each part of the bad circuit. If you narrow it down one circuit..sometimes someone can give you common problems. I got tired of problems with mine and just rewired the complete car.

If after removing all fuses and your DVM still shows a drain, then the problem could very well be the alternator itself. Take it to your FLAPS and jhave it checked under a load. Take the battery there and have it tested as well.
