Default Exhaust Question

I was thinking of purchasing a True Dual Exhaust SS System from Mid America going to Polished SS Turbo Mufflers. How loud would will the true duals be? Anyone have any other suggestions...maybe an H or X pipe?

Thanks

Stainless is the lifetime solution to rust and exhaust failure for which you will pay a premium.
You may have trouble finding a local muff shop who can weld an H or X into stainless.

Duals with an X and decent mufflers has a nice rumble without deafening you.

I have the True Duals in Aluminized Tubing with Dynomax Super Turbos. They are actualy pretty darn quiet. I made them even quieter and a little bit smoother this past weekend when I added an "H" pipe crossover. The system comes together rather close at the tranny crossmember and that was where I added the pipe. Maybe 3" long. No real SOTP torque improvement but quieter at part throttle. No sound at all at cruise.

The aluminized pipes will probably outlast me so I went with those. I welded it up myself. The clamps had a tough time with that thick tubing. If you do go with stainless you need to clamp it together or find someone with stainless welding wire. I think Stainless will rust even faster than mild steel at the welds if you weld it with steel wire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input! That puts my mind at ease; I just did not want to car to so darn loud that I would lose some hearing! I think I will go with the Mid America SS True Duals with Polished Turbo Mufflers. Thanks again!

Would love to but I want to keep the car looking original. Now under the hood, original I think may be thrown out the window!
