I just bought a 1974 corvette 350 4speed car, (my first corvette) The reverse lock out lever/handle on the shifter is missing, nothing gives resistance and it easy to miss first and head for reverse, I just have the shifter rod coming out of the console and the round shift ****. There is a slot in the shifter rod where I figure there should be the reverse lock out mechanism, I would appricate some pictures and a description of what parts I would need to get and where. Thanks much Tracy.
you can search the catalogs such as Ecklers ( see icons on left side of screen ). Or go to www.ecklers.com and look at the products.
The T handle has a rod that goes down through the gearshift to help prevent going into reverse instead of 1st. The spring is used at the top of the T handle I believe in order to give it the resistance to keep the handle and rod pushed down. Only when you pull up on the handle should the gear lever allow you to go into reverse.
