My good news bad news today is after several months of going round and round rebuilding this engine for my 77 it runs and sounds like it runs strong. Thanks for everyones help on this forum answering my stupid questions. The help all paid off. I do have a problem with an oil leak from the front of my oil pan where the timing case meets the oil pan. I have done a search of other folks that have had oil pan leaks in the past. After reading I went out and went under the car and it seems like the front oil pan "U" shaped seal is loose. I thought I used the right seal but with the help of older posts it seems like it is easy to remove the oil pan. My engine is out of a 78 impala which I had bored .030 over and a mild cam. Should I use the fel-pro one piece gasket or what gasket is the best for this engine? Thanks again for your help.

I just pulled off my oil pan and I think I know what I did wrong. I used the fel-pro engime overhaul gasket kit. What I think I did wrong was that there were twodifferent "U" shaped front pan seals I used the thin one which allowed a gap between the pan and timing cover. I put the thicker seal up into the bottom of the timing cover and it appears to take up the gap. I still have to go buy a new pan gasket where can one buy the one piece fel-pro oil pan gasket?
