do Hypertech power chips replace PROM
I recently dumped the automatic trans and put in a manual transmission in my 1981 Vett. Now I learn that the PROM in the ECM is different depending on the transmission which MAY be the reason for less MPG>.so far, I'm having little success finding a replacement/
Does anyone know if the Hypertech Power Chips replace the PROM or are they an add-on?
I like the advertisment in the Corvette catelogues & will probably go w/one if they REPLACE the PROM.

Thanks all! I really appreciate being able to count on you for quick answers.In Reference to: "where else would you put it"? I've never wanted to, nor never have messed w/that computer. I'd really like to get rid of it, but not feasible due to emission laws.
I'll probably get one tomorrow at the Lowes Motor Speedway Auto Fair at Charlotte, NC. if Hypertech or one of their vendors is there...otherwise I'll order it from one of the Corvette catelogues.
