Default Steering U Joint too short

I have a problem when I changed my manual steering box to a new one. Has anyone had a problem with U Joint too short and not engaging the steering box and column shaft enough? This is for my 1968 Corvette. New steering box is Flaming River model.

Do you have a collapsible steering column? If you do you may have moved the shaft up changing out the box.

I read that earlier post. He seems to have a similar problem. I don't have a collapsible steering column.

I am sure starting in 1967 all columns were 2-part shafts, 1 inside another (collapsible).

Why don't you measure how far the shaft comes out of your old steering box and measure the new one. If there is a difference there than something is wrong w/your new part.

The rag joint should slide up or down on the steering shaft. I'm thinking you slid it up for clearance and forgot about it?
