Hello, Im not new to the forum, but it seems that Ive been away long enough for my old account to be removed. Well, Ive been taking it easy on the vette for a while now. Im done with college and have a few years of work under my belt. So, I have some money just burning a hole in my pocket . Ive been getting the vette out more and more, but when I move it after it has been sitting for about a week, it seems that it has a really hard time breaking loose. I dont know if the tranny is stuck or if the diff is stuck. Im thinking that I should start by changing oil in the tranny. My haynes manual says that the diff is "filled for life" so im thinking that it may be overdue for some up-keep. Any ideas? Oh, the car is a 1976 350 L-48 with a 4 speed manual tranny.
I doubt you have any problem in the drivetrain. If you had a problem there it wouldn't go away. I agree look at the brakes. The PB hardware is steel and rusts quickly. If you have orignal hardware the shoes could be stuck. I'd look more at the calipers and rubber hoses. If the rubber hoses are more then 5 years old replace them and bleed the system. If you ss calipers they still could lock up if th efluid is old- more then 2-3 years as it will absorb mositure and turn to mud.
