Need A Little Help Guys. Wanting To Put A Edelbrock Intake And 750 Carb On My '69 350 / 350 Hp. What Will Be The Best Intake And Carb For The Best Performance ?? Car Is A 4 Speed If That Makes Any Differance. I Have Heard That With Some Intakes They Are To High And You Can't Close The Hood. Any Help Will Be Appreciated. Thanks Dave
Intake you run depends on the air cleaner you have. If you want to run a stock air cleaner, then low rise manifolds are proably your best bet. If you're willing to change to a drop base air filter assembly, you can fit a high rise manifold. What intake do you have in mind?
On my 72 (with a stock low rise hood, see pic) I'm running a Weiand 8004, with my stock quadrajet. Chose this intake because it works well with my divorced choke. My cam is an XE268H, which has pretty decent lift. I'm happy with how it performs. If you're going edelbrock, the performer will fit, but you might be happier with an EPS (supposedly more hp and torque). It kind of depends on what you're using the car for.

I run a Victor Jr with a Holley 750 double pumper under the stock hood. I think you will have trouble finding a drop air cleaner if you use an Edlebrock carb, the stock LT-1 air cleaner is the lowest air cleaner I have seen that uses a full sized element.
I briefly ran a Torker 2, but with my fairly radical engine (Comp Cams 294S, Brodix -8 Pro heads w/2.055 intakes, 2.5" exhaust manifolds, 1.6 ratio roller intake rockers, 10.67:1 CR) it didn't work well as the switch to the Victor Jr increased HP by 29% (320 HP up from 248 HP).
The Victor Jr has an air gap design and is MUCH less restrictive than a dual plane manifold. This manifold works best at higher rpms.
the threads were stripped on the carb (q-jet) where the gas filter slips in the carb and the gas line goes in. i even got one of the self taping 1" nuts and rethreaded , but still leaked. had to use jb weld to stop the gas leak. really don't like it to be jumboed up like that so i thought i would go ahead and change out the intake and carb. dave
