Default Corvette A-Arm Choices?

What are my choices for tubular upper and lower front control arms.

I looked at VB&P, great stuff, I just dont like the looks of the square tube arms on such a "swoopy" car.

I'm not interested in coil overs from the existing source, nor am I inclined to fab from scratch like TT.

Global West says that they will have them next year

CPP says that they will have them before christmas.

I can box in my existing arms.

Rumor has it that they are the same as 62 Impala parts ? anybody know?

Are there any other choices out there?

If, IF I wanted tubular a arms ... there's a coupla guys nearby here that build circle track chassis & a arms from scratch ... about $50/bare arm (no ball joint). They use a standardized race shaft (won't fit vette). Spend an evening in your local circle track pit and ask around who does this kinda work near you. If you provide joints, shafts & bushings (& loan your old arms for a pattern) ... someone near you might also do it for about $50/arm. It's easier to build a tube arm set up for coilover. My local ct shop has used coilover for small$. Lotta ct arms use chrysler screw-in joints w/ chevy spindles reamed to fit larger mopar stud. I dunno about drag arms ... but if I had to guess, I'd think the ct arms are more robust than drag arms.

-edit- and yes, 58-64 chevy FULL Size pass car UPPER a arm fits C2 & C3 ... according to Hollander junkyard bible. Vette lowers are unique.

As I understand it, the lowers are the same apart from the sway bar mount. They are reversed compared to the full size car. To get the independant rear end, Zora had to take the full size parts off the shelf( or close to it)

Keith, look at Howe Racing, they have 3 bolt corvette and the 4 bolt gm min ball joints in a modular design w/ taller studs, you can select which one you want..just the thing for you That will give you the tapper spindle, I wouldn't go over 1,5" taller than stock though, roll center really goes up then, the virtual swing arm gets terribly short and the camber curve gets kinda wild. I settles my adjustable ones on 1" for now but as you know...no testing yet.

Turboman, those sites did not list corvettes as cars that they make tubular a-arms for. Global West has other cars listed but not corvettes.

Where did I say they have them? No one has them, apart from VB&Ps square tubing stuff and jim meyers who's the only one that offers true tubular DOM arms but only for coil overs...

Read what the 1st post said:

Global West says that they will have them next year

CPP says that they will have them before christmas.

Ok, my apologies for the misunderstanding. What advantage is there in a tubular a-arm anyway?

Make your own like norval has but instead of adding meterial on the top add the 1"or 1,5" on the underside, instant extended spindle and dropped spindle in one

I may give that a shot some time, have to get some (cheap) spare spindles to do it

Yeah I've heard of them. Just had a brain fart early this morning.

I wish I could a good machine shop. I have a set of Tubular arms that we made but I can't find a company to give me a price quote. I guess no one wants work anymore.

Do you have pics of the arms? Are they set up for the stock coil spring? Maybe you can contact a speedway shop, they usually turn out their own arms.

Yea, I remember them. They seem kinda cheezy, but maybe it's the best choice.

They don't look cheezy at all, they have a larger misalignment angle than the stockers. They're not cheap, something like 90$ a piece. Savitske classic & custom sells them ( http://www.scandc.com/ )

Didn't take pics yet. They are currently at a machine shop but have been there for 4 weeks. Mine look pretty much like Jim Meyers. A little different. I've tried 5 machine shops.

The only thing I don't like about the adjustable arms is the fact that they could come loose. Like the adjustables do. Last thing we need is a law suit from someone who didn't tighten them up all the way and they fall off. I'll just keep grindin away with what we have.
