Default Alternator replacement

I have a 71 BB with the factory alternator(63amps) would like to replace it with a little more powerful one (94amps). Do you have to modify anything to install, want one that looks close to factory one. Or do you just hook it up and thats it?? any ideas thanks

Just get another one with more amps. If you go much bigger, I'd probably run another large wire from the back of the alternator to the starter (battery cable). The stock wiring wasn't meant for 100 amps continuously.

Just take it in to a local rebuilder. You get to keep your OEM unit, and they can rewire it for 94A at the same time.

This is a good plan to keep the original-especially on a bumper BB car.

You don't want to take the chance of starting a fire
